As with other small states, the margins in New Hampshire are tiny. Obama’s 10 point lead over McCain in 2008 was only 68,292 votes. Most of the elections have been even closer—Hillary Clinton won by just 2,736 votes. In states with small populations, every vote really does make a difference!
New Hampshire also has a Senate seat and its Governor on the ballot. Democratic incumbent Senator Jeanne Shaheen is leading in the polls by around 15 points, and Republican incumbent Governor Chris Sununu is ahead by 19 points, so it doesn’t look like anything is getting flipped on election night.
